No, the “tap and pay” feature will not work with a metal card. However, you can always use your smartphone to enable “tap and pay” if you wish to retain that functionality. The contactless feature is complex, as some antennas are embedded within the plastic card, while others are solely integrated into the EMV chip. Identifying the antenna’s location without removing the EMV chip is difficult. If the antenna is in the plastic card, the contactless function will no longer work. Conversely, if the antenna is only within the EMV chip, it may still function, provided the frequency is strong enough to pass through the metal card. However, the metal often acts as a barrier, blocking the frequency from the EMV chip and preventing it from registering at the point-of-sale (POS) machine.

Yes, we transfer the data from your plastic card to the metal card. However, some POS machines, particularly older models, may struggle to read the magnetic strip on a metal card. It might require 2-3 swipes to be read, and in rare cases, it may not read at all. This issue is primarily associated with older card readers, as they were designed specifically for plastic cards and not for metal cards.

You can use your new metal card worldwide! However, if your existing card supports contactless payments, this feature will no longer be available on the metal card. That said, you can still make contactless payments conveniently using your smartphone.
